: Mt Buller has produced some of the best and most successful freeride skiers in the country and it remains TBR:FREERIDE’s collective aim to create progressive training frameworks to keep up that tradition.
: TBR:FREERIDE aims to facilitate training opportunities for riders that have already developed a competent on snow skill set. Whether your goal is to hit rails, ride pipe, take on huge air or develop a painfully fresh style our coaches are here to hold your hand and figuratively kick your butt to get you there. If you aspire to reaching pro status our raft of guest coaches will help wet your appetite to the possibilities within the Australian and international riding scene.
: When he’s not pedalling K2 skis, Full Tilt’s excellent line of boots and running freeride camps to Japan, Nick Franklin-Jones [aka FJ] is hard at work ensuring that TBR’s freeride program delivers our riders with the right mix between an all mountain and pure freeride park experience. FJ’s tentacles run deep within the Australian ski industry and despite cracking 30 during season 08 the old dog shows no outward signs of slowing...
: As far as FJ’s entourage for TBR:09 is concerned, the old dog will be shadowed by the usual suspects in Coach Watkin, Breheny and Scotty with Dr Dre stepping it up to round out the line up. The boys are back to school you in the latest in freeriding progression and innovation from exotic destinations abroad...
: Watkin spent the summer on a search for something... We hear he found a little, dropping huge cliffs and sliding powder in and around the steeps of Jackson, Wyoming.
: As for Breheny, he opted for a summer session cross training under the full moon in Thailand before a short stint in the park at Vail... Scotty spent the summer taming the park at Breckenridge and getting the word out at the Vegas trade show, whilst Dre spent the summer perfecting the double flip. Fresh from his 15 seconds of fame having taken out Newschoolers clip of the week in the closing stages of season 2008 with a massive high stakes double front flip Dre took it upon himself to take his game to the powder of Niseko, Japan.
: If that’s not enough for you we now have the services of a current US X Games Slopestyle Champion on offer, does it get any bigger??? Fresh from a little knee surgery following her US X-Games victory back in late January Anna Segal will be back on board to hang out in and around the traps for July. Anna’s success is a credit to her passion for the sport and will play an integral role in bridging the gap between the Australian and international riding scenes.
: Key to the structure of TBR:FREERIDE is the idea that the program fosters a level of skill development and rider passion geared towards competition as well as rider progression to maximise opportunity for growth and experience within the industry. We plan to establish a dedicated freeride big air facility on Chamois for the exclusive use of our riders. This facility will complement the top notch park set-up to be designed and maintained by MBP.
: Whilst opportunity exist within the freeride industry to achieve success outside of competition all riders in TBR:FREERIDE are strongly encouraged to test their skill progression by entering the following list of competitions through out season 2009:
- Pepsi Freeride - Mt Buller - Aug 01-02
- Falls Creek Big Air - Falls Creek - Aug 15-16
