TBR:MOGUL aims to be a world leading training outlet for skilled riders who aspire to represent Australia in the Olympic discipline of Mogul skiing.
TBR:MOGUL is a high intensity mogul training program for riders that have already developed a competent skill base. Our aim is to take each rider’s respective skill base and work to give them the best chance of becoming a national or international level athlete.
: Mogul skiing is unique in that it combines both skiing and big air skills. This generates huge interest with moguls constantly rating as one of the most highly anticipated events at the Olympic Winter Games. TBR:MOGUL athletes concentrate on competition specific bump, jump and strength development. Athletes will also cross train in aspects of freeride to develop a well rounded skill set.
: Mogul skiing has always been a massive part of who we are here at TBR and TBR:09 is no different. Peter McNiel is back to head the team in 2009. The Chizzle is slightly less tanned than usual having spent the better part of 4 months in the northern hemisphere fulfilling his role as Australian Sub Development Mogul Team Head Coach. Under Pete’s guidance the team attained some of their best results in years, including Europa Cup Gold. In fact the big man is firming as favourite to take out Australian Development Coach of the year at the 2009 Australian Ski Awards, stay tuned!!!
: To the left of Chizzle’s sculpted shoulders stand TBR’s World Cup representative sibling duo, Rob and Tom Lovick, whilst to the right and capping it all off stands Pro Skier, World Cup Mogul Judge and Australian Sub Development Aerial Team technical skiing coach Zoe Jaboor. These guys have trained with and learnt from the very best coaches and athletes in the world. They are at the forefront of international Mogul skiing innovation and we are extremely fortunate to be able to capitalise on their collective experience.
: As if this wasn’t enough, TBR is stoked to announce that multi Olympic Gold Medal winning coach Steve Desovich will be back and on board to impart genius!!! His camp for 2009 is designed to provide the very best top end technical mogul skiing feedback to a select group of riders aimed at aiding in their preparations for an assault on the 2009 competition circuit.
: Key to the structure of TBR:MOGUL is the idea that the program aims to foster a level of skill development and rider passion geared towards success in elite competition. As TBR:MOGUL is recognised as the first step in the Australian Winter Olympic Athlete Pathway, preparation for competition is a primary focus. We plan to establish a dedicated mogul training facility on Chamois complete with mogul lines and airs built to FIS specification.
: All riders in TBR:MOGUL are strongly encouraged to test their skill and go for glory by entering the following competitions on the calendar for 2009:
- Junior National Mogul Champs - Mt Buller, July 25-26
- National Freestyle Mogul Champs* - Perisher, Aug 19-22
- ABOM Mogul Challenge* - Mt Buller, Aug 28-29
* (FIS sanctioned event)
