TBR Water Jump camp a great success

The school holidays saw the 5 –day TBR:WATERJUMP CAMP concluding April 1st 2010 before the Easter Holiday. The camp was a huge success seeing 20+ athletes participating from TBR:GROM, TBR:MOGUL & TBR:FREERIDE.

Many athletes experienced an impressive level of skill acquisition and achieved significant progression in their ability. The structure of the camp over 5-days made this possible.

The first two days focused strongly on fundamental skills, taking athletes back to the beginning and enhancing their core jumping skills. After two days working hard to create the building blocks for their development, we took a day away from the ramps and attended a gym and trampolining facility with Olympic Winter Institute Aerial Development Coach – Anthony Khoury. The trampoline session and coaching from Anthony Khoury helped athletes to develop anything from their first back flips on trampoline to back fulls, cork 720s and even double flips.

The second two day block allowed athletes to combine their enhanced fundamental skills from the first block, with the new skills learnt at the acrobatics session. This enabled some athletes to do their first 360s and back flips with skis on their feet. Some athletes turned 720s into corks and others couldn’t help but do double backs on the aerial kickers.

To add to the experience, a brand new Mogul/Freeride jump has been completed in the last week and it has already proven to be a great enhancement. Double backs, punch fronts, cork 1080s, back double fulls and even a switch double back have been successfully landed.

To all you riders who didn’t make it out for the TBR:WATERJUMP CAMP, there are still two more TBR:SUNDAY SESSIONS to learn all those tricks you want to try on snow for the first time. Sunday 18th April and Sunday 25th April.
