i ski for tommy. (isft)

isft. is a not for profit initiative formed and directed by friends of the late Thomas Lewis-Mathias, a gifted local Mt Buller alpine-racer who tragically died of melanoma last year.

He was 23.

A well known face amongst Mt Buller locals, when diagnosed, Tom was a winter athlete at the top of his game. Melanoma, the most common form of cancer in persons his age, quickly took the physically impressive Tom and left him reliant on full-time nursing care. His loss was felt throughout the greater skiing community and particularly amongst those who were lucky enough to have spent time with him on the hill. So much so that it gave group of people the motivation to form “i ski for tommy.” or “isft.” The primary aims being to raise the awareness of the dangers melanoma presents to young people and to generate funds exclusively for The Victorian Melanoma Service.

A mission statement can be found at the website

isft Founding Director Mark Cicchiello and his team show great passion and dedication in honouring their friends legacy. By this we are humbled... It’s fair to say TBR is more than stoked to throw its support behind an initiative of such value - this is the least we can do... both for Tom’s legacy and for the future wellbeing of our athletes and club community as a whole.

The isft logo will be worn by our coaches who choose to as a reminder!!
