Freestyle Fest crowns Australia's next generation at Mt Buller

​Some of Australia's best junior freestyle talent descended on Mt Buller last weekend for the Bounce Inc Freestyle Fest, with skiers and boarders from resorts around the country competing over three days for a $12,500 prize pool put up by major sponsors Adams Estate Agents and Bounce Inc.
 
The action opened with the Adams jNats Mogul event on Bourke Street on Friday August 7, drawing a 100-strong field that competed throughout the day before night finals lit up the iconic run.
 
Olympic mogul skiing gold and silver medallist Dale Begg-Smith added to the occasion, presenting medals to the podium finishers.
 
Saturday's Bounce Inc Big Air event moved the action to the Skyline Terrain Park, where skiers and boarders tackled one of the biggest publicly accessible jumps in Australia.
 
The festival wrapped up on Sunday with the Bounce Inc Rail Jam, held in tough conditions in the rail park on the Gliders area near Spurs/Northside Express.

​Introduction
BOUNCE Inc. Freestyle Fest is three days of competition across Moguls, Rails and Big Air, with junior and youth ski and snowboard athletes competing to take home a share of the $12,500 in prize money.

Entry fee
  • Individual Events $80
  • All three ski events (Moguls, Rail Jam, Big Air) $210
  • Ski and Snowboard park events (Rail Jam & Big Air) $140
  • Entries close 5pm Thursday August 6 

Age Categories/Divisions
  • Junior Men/Women (born January 1 2007 to December 31 2012) 
  • Youth Men/Women (born January 1 2013 or later)

ADAMS jNats Moguls
  • Date: Friday August 7
  • Location: Bourke St
  • Course: One jump at top of the course, followed by moguls to the finish line.
  • Format: One run qualifying for all competitors, top 8 in each division advance to the finals.
  • Judging: FIS Mogul rules - 60% turns, 20% air, 20% speed.

BOUNCE Inc Rail Jam
  • Date: Saturday August 8
  • Location: Gliders/Spurs
  • Course: Multiple side by side rails
  • Format: Jam session - timed jam sessions for each division (Ski - Youth, Ski - Junior, Snowboard - Youth, Snowboard - Junior).
  • Rider briefing at top of course prior to training
  • Judged: Best 2 runs of different tricks or features score out of 100.

BOUNCE Inc Big Air
  • Location: Skyline Park
  • Course: Park Jump
  • Format: best 2 jumps out of 3 jumps format, the two counting tricks must be different.
  • Rider briefing at top of course prior to training
  • Judging: FIS Big Air rules - Difficulty Execution Amplitude Landing scored out of 100

Trophies & Prizes
  • Total cash prize pool over the three days of competition  $12,500
  • Medals and prizes will be presented to the top three place getters in each age category immediately following the event on course.
  • Prize money thanks to BOUNCE Inc and Adams Estate Agents.
  • Prizes thanks to Oakley, Black Crows and Snow Australia.

  • Total Cash Prize Pool $12,500.
  • Winner of Junior Division Male & Female - $750 each & prizes
  • Winner of Youth Division Male & Female - $500 each & prizes

Competitor Lift Tickets
  • Competitor tickets will be available to purchase at 50% discount 
  • Link to be provided to all registered competitors requiring a lift ticket at the close of registration 5pm Thursday August 6

Bib Collection/Return
  • Bibs can be collected and returned from 8:45am to 9:15am on each competition day from the Mt Buller Race and Events Department, located under the unload area at the Bourke Street Express.
  • Lost or damaged bibs will be charged at $60

All participants competing in the event will require insurance and an active Snow ID. This is available to all competitors via the Snow Racer option. This is currently a free product and available via www.snowracer.com.au
