Karbon Jacket Guidelines for Uniform Care

23/6/2019

Picture
Picture
This policy guideline has been written to ensure that the wearers of Karbon uniform garments maintain the highest quality of their garment over the life of their uniform. This policy is relevant for all insulated outerwear, softshell, softstretch and puffer jackets.

GENERAL CARE OF GARMENTS

Water repellency of garments

• Karbon Outerwear garments have an external DWR waterproof coating to prevent
staining and fabric saturation.
• This coating over time will need to re-applied at the time of washing at the end of each
season. This will prevent garments from unnecessarily staining and wetting out.
• It is the responsibility of the garment owner/resort launderer to carry out this reapplication
of coating as part of a regular maintenance program.

Drying of garments
• In wet conditions where garments absorb a small amount of water in the outer fabric, it is
imperative that a direct heat source is not used to dry the garment.
• For example, putting a garment over a heater or directly near a heater can result in
colour migration (bleeding), seamsealing to peel off, distortion to the fabric or peeling of
heat transfer logos. Therefore, a cooler heat is appropriate to dry garments (ie. putting
the garment a reasonable distance away from the direct heat source).
• A drying room is also appropriate to dry garments, as long as they are a safe distance
away from the heater.

Washing of garments
• Washing should only take place as few times as possible over the life of the garment.
• The more the garment is washed the more stress is put on seamsealing, waterproofing,
heat transfer logos, the internal structure of the garment and the DWR coating.
• Garments that are washed incorrectly may result in excessive fading, colour migration,
peeling of logos and a breakdown of waterproofing.

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Do not wash the garment too frequently. The more washes the garment is exposed to, the
more stress it is put under to maintain its features and integrity. Always attempt to spot clean
where appropriate rather than wash the garment in a washing machine.

2. Wash on a cold wash cycle on a gentle setting. DO NOT WASH IN HOT OR WARM WASH
CYCLES.

3. Use a tiny amount of mild detergent (Earth products make a mild detergent that is suitable). Too much detergent affects the waterproofing. Avoid any detergent with bleach in it.

4. DO NOT DRY GARMENTS IN A TUMBLE DRYER. Hang jackets on a hanger to dry in the shade and lie pants flat and dry naturally. Hanging garments in a drying room far away from a direct heat source is acceptable.

Exciting developments for the 2019-20 TBR Park City Camp

17/6/2019

PictureWATCH THE TBR PARK CITY 2018-19 VIDEO
Information is now available and applications are open for the 2019-20 TBR Park City Camp!

Park City is one of the premiere ski destinations in the USA and delivers a perfect training environment through its proud 2002 Olympic legacy of the best training and competition facilities available in the world.

Camp Training Options
  • Fly over & live with TBR
    • 4 week option December 28-January 23
  • Stay with your family/train with TBR
  • Custom dates also possible
We are excited to announce some big developments for the 2019-20 TBR Park City Camp.

Major upgrade to the Utah Olympic Park
The Utah Olympic Park are currently in the middle of huge earthworks including moving an entire road to cut in a new full length mogul course which we will have access to during our camp! The pitch of this new mogul course is in between the steepness of Chamois and a regular FIS mogul course which is perfect for skill development. A new chairlift will also be in place for the zone.

TBR Camp Physiotherapist
Freestyle skiing is very taxing on the body and quite often our junior athletes suffer frequent minor physical issues which can mean needing to take time off snow to rest and recover and often require us to find local physics to treat them. This year we are excited to announce that we are bringing our very own physiotherapist who will not only be able to treat athletes but will be able to help individual athletes manage their training load, warm up correctly and recover properly to maximise their time training in Park City.

Reminder to book flights
We have a number of athletes already confirmed for the 2019/20 camp however there are still spots available in our house. We decided this year to book our flights just a little earlier to try and save people a bit of money as the flights tend to go up from now onwards.

With the US dollar less favourable this year flights are slightly more expensive but booking this early we were able to secure a similar price we paid last year at a later date. The flight we have booked as the staff chaperoned flight still has seats remaining however we recommend booking soon to avoid missing the cheaper fare on that flight.

Spaces in the TBR house did fill up last year and some people missed out who wanted to book at the last minute. We recommend locking yourself in sooner rather than later to ensure you have a spot.

More information on the camp, including dates, packages, TBR Condo, meals and supervision can be found at www.tbrparkcity.com

Parents & Families
Don’t let the kids have all the fun! Park City has much to offer parents and families as well.

An added bonus of Park City as our camp location in addition to the world’s best training facilities, is that Park City is one of the premier resorts in North America.

Athletes training with tbrparkcity have the option of their living with TBR or can stay with their parents and receive coaching only.

tbrparkcity encourages all parents to come over and enjoy the "greatest snow on earth" making our program an integral part of this year’s family skiing holiday!!!

HEAD INJURY SAFETY POLICY

10/6/2019

CONCUSSION TESTING

Freestyle skiing is a sport where concussion is a high risk. Australia’s elite freestyle skiing athletes are mandated to complete baseline concussion tests every year so that if they ever take a knock to the head the diagnosis of concussion can be fast and simple.

If an athlete has completed a baseline concussion test before an injury occurs, then they will be a step ahead of in easier and faster diagnosis and recovery from concussion if they do get an injury to the head.

SSA has come up with an affordable way for club level skiers to be concussion tested. SSA members are now entitled to a huge discount on HeadSmart’s online testing system.

This is available to both SSA members and Snowracers. It costs $15 and can be done online via the links below. Results are then emailed and also available via their membership portal.

It is mandatory for ALL TBR athletes to complete a baseline test annually. This must be completed before the commencement of any TBR training program.

HELMETS

TBR takes athlete safety very seriously. We are proud to say that a number of our top athletes have escaped serious head injury on multiple occasions because they were wearing a helmet.

Helmets must be worn by all TBR athletes during all on snow and water jump training and competitions or when skiing in TBR uniform outside of TBR sessions.

Helmets must be worn correctly with the helmet strap fastened under the chin to ensure that it does its job in the event of a crash.

We recommend a helmet with MIPS technology
