Free your animal spirit and take part in the blizzard of BOM. Nourish your community spirit, enjoy the spectacle from the bottom or ski and take part in this event that celebrates the art of freeskiing. FreeBOM is open to all skiers of any age or discipline. FreeBOM asks competitors to ski with grace, passion and dance the line between chaos and control. The format is relaxed, competitors are required to ski down in front of judges, showing off their interpretation of FreeBOM and the art of freeskiing. Prizes are awarded to all ages and genders (and family’s) based on skiing, dressing, airing, falling and FreeBOMing. All TBR athletes and parents are encouraged to participate. All spectators and competitors receive a custom FreeBOM buff. Normally we hold the event on Wood Run, however due to low snow conditions we may change the venue but we hold hope in the promising forecast. Enter now and find out more at www.freebom.ski/ The first big event of the season for TBR athletes took part last Saturday, with the Buller Slopestyle comp running in tricky conditions.
The Mt Buller Park Crew have done an amazing job all season to have a great facility open despite the limited snow this year, so huge appreciation from TBR to the park crew and mountain operations department. Visibility was tough for all competitors, and fresh snow/rain also made speed on the course challenging, with athletes needing to adapt their strategy to put down clean runs. No doubt it was great to be competing again, and everyone who took part would have learnt a lot on slopestyle strategy which will help for the upcoming interschools and future events. The runs were scored on overall impression with the following criteria (best run counts):Progression, Amplitude, Variety, Execution and Difficulty During the competitor’s briefing the Head Judge explained that clean runs would be rewarded over hucked/ crashed tricks or skipped features.
