Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Snowboarding is coming back to Team Buller in 2018! We are very excited to announce that a new Slopestyle/Big Air training program will be offered this season to complement our existing Freeski disciplines. Team Buller has demonstrated a consistent passion for servicing the freestyle athlete pathway. The addition of TBR Snowboard will now give young snowboard athletes every opportunity to grow and develop their skills at Mt Buller. TBR Snowboard will focus on the Olympic disciplines of Slopestyle and Big Air, aiming to provide snowboarders with the fundamental skills and World-class training facilities to take their riding to the next level. We truly believe we have the passion, the coaches and the facilities to support and grow the next generation of Australian Winter Olympic Snowboard Athletes! | |
Christmas has come early for TBR and the Australian Winter Sports Pathway, with the first components of the brand new Mt Buller Olympic Training Centre complete in time for the 2018 season.
Following several months of planning and negotiations, a landmark partnership has been reached between the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia, Ski & Snowboard Australia, Buller Ski Lifts, and the Mt Buller & Mt Stirling Resort Management Board.
The partnership will see Mt Buller athlete training programs recognised as an Olympic Training Centre, and the only resort in Australia where Olympic athletes can live on the mountain and train both day and night.
The Olympic Training Centre is a game changer for the TBR Program and the Athlete Pathway at Mt Buller.
Once complete, the facilities will rival any development level training centre in the world.
In 2018 TBR Snowboard will have access to a new Big Air/Slopestyle training site on Chamois ski run, as well as the new high performance acrobatic facility in Buller Central equip with super tramps and air bag.
Training will also take place regularly in Buller’s famed MBP parks.
Jarryd Williams – Head TBR Snowboard Coach
Jarryd Williams is as good as it gets in Australian Park & Pipe Coaching. He has spent 8 years on the Australian Snowboard Team competing at World Cup level in both Slopestyle and Halfpipe. Prior to this Jarryd represented Australia in Boarder Cross at the Junior World Championships.
Jarryd has since turned his talents to coaching and has previously run the TSC Snowboard Program at Mt Buller in addition to coaching Australian high performance athletes in Breckenridge, CO, USA.
With World Cup experience in both racing and freestyle disciplines, Jarryd is a firm believer that strong fundamental skills must form the foundation of freestyle riding.
To sum it up – Jarryd is a gun and we couldn’t be more excited to have him on board as head TBR Snowboard Coach for 2018.
